Dot To Dot

The organisers Carly Gledhill and Nicole Frobusch wanted to create an event in a intimate setting, where visitors had the chance to view products first hand, meet the people behind the labels and get to understand companies ethoses. They have defiantly achieved just that.
Exhibitors this year included 4funkyflavours, Amy & Ivor, Arcas Bear, Bababou, BEBEBEBE, Chakra Design Studio, Lillan Gorillan, Roses and Rhinos, Tootsa, Turtle Dove London and many more gorgeous brands.
It was quite a surprise receiving the email from Sarah asking me to attend Dot to Dot, with the aim of accompanying her to find potential new brands to stock at Dinosaurs and Daffodils and also giving me the perfect topic for the next blog.
I was so excited to have the opportunity to attend the event. I had never been to anything like it before. However my anxiety crept in about leaving Tily and Teddie, especially as it would be my first time leaving Teddie.
I very rarely leave them for more than a few hours so my initial thoughts were filled with....... 'What if they need Me?', 'its so far away?', 'What if something happens?' but my main concern was would Teddie be OK not being breastfeed all day?
Us Mums do worry, but I was only going for ONE day!! If he's off being a busy toddler he does forget and its normally just for comfort now. I had to stop worrying!!!. So with some reassurance from my husband and family I jumped at the chance to go!
Sarah and I travelled up on the early morning train, arriving in London at lunchtime. Navigating our way through the underground and busy streets of a very hot London we arrived at the event.
The entrance hallway was adorned with an array of the most beautiful paper decorations and chandeliers decorated by Meri Meri. Meri Meri are a online company specialising in stylish party supplies from greeting cards to decorations and everything in-between for all occasions.
Organic and ethically sourced brands were on top of our list to meet, and luckily this year these were the majority. 'Turtle Dove London', 'Tootsa', 'Organic Zoo' and 'One We Like' where just a few of the organic brands exhibiting.
One of my personal favourites was Little Borne. So much thought and detail had gone into the design of the pieces to ensure comfort and practicality.
Their unisex joggers and sweatpants were designed completely with kids in mind. Extra wide head openings, never slip down double waist band, extra big pockets and key ring loop to keep all their treasures and belongings, doubled up fabric to protect little elbows and knees and all labels on the outside so they don't itch. Made from 100% organic cotton and come in a mix and match colour range. This practical, cool and comfortable range really was made for children.
Two other brands who stood out for their aim for zero waste and sustainability where Mini Bili and Arcas Bear.
Mini Bili produce luxury up-cycled clothes hand tailored in London. Transforming textiles that would other wise be destined for landfill into beautiful children and baby clothes. Each piece is handmade and tailored using vintage, second hand or end of line fabric. All items are made to order. Working closely with the customer producing work which they call 'forever young'.
Each Mini Bili item has a life time guarantee, encouraging you to return your item when it is no longer required where you will receive a 30% discount off your next item. Your unwanted garment will then be de-constructed and used again. What a great way to reuse fabric, old clothes and reduce landfill. Its a win win!
Arcas Bear are a ethical, environmental concious brand producing funky footwear. The trainers are like nothing I've seen before and I would love a pair for myself!
They only use recycled, renewable, vegan, up-cycled materials and strive to be zero waste free. "Arcas Bear has the purpose to help people take care of our only and unique planet" and raise awareness about sustainable solutions through their products. If only all companies had the same ethos!
Dot to Dot was a fantastic event. I have never been in a room with so many gorgeous clothes. Being a huge lover clothes I was in my element! But I will have to wait till next year to be able to purchase any of the items we saw.
It was great meeting lots of lovely new brands and excitingly we found a few which will hopefully be stocked at Dinosaurs and Daffodils in the near future. So keep an eye out on their social media pages.
.......................oh and Teddie and Tily survived without me :)
